Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System is a federally legislated program.  Companies throughout canada are required by law to ensure employees are sufficiently trained.  This training is realized in two formats, Employee Education and Site Specific Training Employee education includes familiarity with WHMIS responsibilities, labelling requirements, and content of Material Safety Data Sheets. These are what we call the 'fundamentals of WHMIS'.
Every employer you work for must also provide site specific training to familiarize you with the hazardous materials they may have on site, and the emergency response procedures to be followed in the event of an incident involving their use.
The training you will receive in this program meets all the requirements for worker education. If you would like further information about the requirements for worker education, please vist http://www.ccohs.ca/oshanswers/legisl/whmis_education.html.

Lockout Tagout training
Throughout the work day, employees are exposed to countless forms of energy.
Occasionally, an employee will be required to control that energy when they: perform maintenance on equipment which if inadvertently started
could cause injury, perform maintenance on equipment that must remain 'de-energized', enter a
vessel in which hazardous materials could enter unexpectedly.
Lock-out and Tag-out is required when any form of energy can be created, or introduced by other individuals or processes in a manner that could cause significant injury to an employee. This Lockout/Tagout standard requires the adoption and implementation of practices and procedures to shut down equipment, isolate it from its energy source(s), and prevent the release of potentially hazardous energy while maintenance and servicing activities are being performed. It contains minimum performance requirements, and definitive criteria for establishing an effective program for the control of hazardous energy.
Employers have the flexibility to develop lockout/tagout programs that are suitable for their respective facilities and training is required for all employees. This program has been developed to meet the requirement of worker training.
